Jungle Themed Baby Shower Cookies

Lizard, Elephant, and Giraffe cookies for Jungle themed baby shower

One of my best friends came down to visit me from California for the weekend. She mentioned she was throwing her friend a baby shower in a few days, so I thought… Why don’t we take some cookies! The shower theme is going to be jungle, so she picked a few jungle animal cookie cutters. I have the Wilton Animal Pals 50-piece which has a good variety of shapes. She narrowed it down to the elephant, giraffe, and  lizard/gecko/salamander/newt. We’re not quite sure what it is… 😛

Since we had to make enough for about 20 people, we made two dozen cookies. One sugar cookie batch– I use The Decorated Cookie’s recipe. And one chocolate cut out cookie batch– I use Bake at 350’s recipe. The royal icing recipe I use is from Glorious Treats.

This was my first time trying the marbling technique. I have done wet-on-wet, but never messed with the icing. Also, I redid the elephant cookie I made last week for another baby shower. I really liked the heart elephant ear with the sanding sugar. Super cute!

After we baked and decorated the cookies, we waited for them to dry. Then we put them in cellophane bags and tied each one with a blue and lime green ribbon. Just to make sure they made it back to California safely, we decided to wrap each cookie in bubble wrap.

The lizards have a marbling design on them that didn’t show up that great in the picture. There were a number of flaws with the cookies, but I think they still turned out really cute! 🙂

I had so much fun working on this cookie project with my best friend. I really hope the mommy-to-be and guests enjoy the cookies and have fun at the shower! 🙂
